Duke, North Carolina, and the Battle on Tobacco Road
By Johnny Moore and Art Chansky
Foreword by Jay Bilas
The Essence of the Greatest Rivalry in College Basketball
With only ten miles between the two and nearly 250 meetings on the hardwood, the North Carolina Tar Heels and Duke Blue Devils have formed one of the greatest rivalries in all of sports. UNC alum and best-selling author Art Chansky teamed up with Johnny Moore, who has spent four decades involved in Duke Athletics, to collaborate on this amazing new book. With two definitive perspectives on the rivalry, The Blue Divide: Duke, North Carolina, and the Battle on Tobacco Road (Triumph Books, October 2014) provides fans of both shades of blue with an inside look into the history, players and legacies that have pinned these two programs against one another.
Unlike most sports feuds, Duke and UNC feed off one another as their rivalry pushes both teams to reach new goals. Delving into the foundations and history of both teams, The Blue Divide shows how Duke and UNC’s basketball identities are actually more alike than many realize. Such similarities have resulted not only in heated recruiting conflicts but also in a rivalry that is founded more on mutual respect than hatred. The Blue Divide provides stories of games and players that have helped to create this legendary clash, including:
Whether you are a die-hard Blue Devil or an avid supporter of the Tar Heels, The Blue Divide is the perfect book for both sides to learn about the origins and history of this famous rivalry.
