The New York Yankees are one of the greatest teams in baseball history and a true sensation in the city of New York. Since their first World Series win in 1923, the Yankees have dominated the field, claiming 20 World Series titles between the years 1923 to 1962. Though the Yankees, like any team, experience ups and downs, they are a team proven to produce static results for their loyal fans. For decades, the Yankees have continuously made the playoffs and shown off their great talent, bumping their World Series victories to 27 in 2009. In their entirety, the Yankees are respected and beloved, along with the greats that represented the team such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, Reggie Jackson, Derek Jeter and many more. Author Peter Botte captures these moments and men in this dynamite new book The Big 50: New York Yankees that all true Yankee fans must have.
The Big 50: New York Yankees (Triumph Books, April 14, 2020) features the critical men and moments that elevated the dynamite Yankees and established their position as one of the greatest franchises in sports history. Peter Botte gives fans front row seats to past and present players, coaches, and teams that are part of the storied history that is Yankees baseball. Highlights include:
- Two heartfelt forewords from former New York Yankees center fielder Bernie Williams and American actor and renowned Yankees’ fan Chazz Palminteri
- Chapters highlighting fan favorites such as Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Lou Gehrig, Derek Jeter, and Aaron Judge
- Discover the 1998 Yankees which are arguably considered the best overall team in baseball history, recording 114 victories in their season, paving the way for the Yankees to win their eventual back-to-back-to-back World Series in 1998, 1999, and 2000
- Revisit the remarkable stories of the team including those two special nights in the 2001 World Series
