Few schools can boast the rich football tradition of The Ohio State Buckeyes. On autumn weekends, more than 100,000 fans fill Ohio Stadium and cheer with gusto for the Scarlet and Gray.
For the Love of the Buckeyes: An A-to-Z Primer for Buckeyes Fans of All Ages, with text by Frederick C. Klein and illustrations by Mark Anderson (Foreword by Archie Griffin) offers at least 26 reasons to love the Buckeyes.
Each letter of the alphabet - "E is for Eddie George ..." - is the basis for a short rhyme, penned by former Wall Street Journal-columnist Frederick C. Klein, and accompanied by a detailed, four-color cartoon by widely-published illustrator Mark Anderson.
Football fans will have the opportunity to look up the illustrations of some of the most famous (and infamous) characters in Ohio St. football history such as:
¨ Archie Griffin
¨ Eddie George
¨ Hopalong Cassady
¨ Woody Hayes
¨ Jim Tressel
¨ Jack Tatum
¨ Chris Spielman
¨ Troy Smith
For the Love of the Buckeyes is a wonderful tool for young readers to learn about the history, legends, triumphs and tragedies that constitute the background behind The Ohio State Buckeyes.
